The ENFORCE Project

ENFORCE developed novel methods and techniques for the formalization, analysis and enforcement of policies to ensure well-funded trust. ENFORCE addressed security and trust from a broad perspective including laws and regulations for privacy, data protection as well as more general ethical norms. In order to ensure the practicality of the approach, real cases in the area of virtual organizations built on state-of-the-art technology for interoperability and communication were addressed. The project combined the experience of three principal researchers - a lawyer, a philosopher and a computer scientist - with strong international academic and industrial reputation, with the initiatives and creativity of two doctoral students, a post-doc, and three visiting researchers.

ENFORCE was funded by the Research Council of Norway and ran from January 1, 2005 until December 31, 2009.
